Expungements

If you have previously been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony and it is affecting your future opportunities, Fauver Law Offices may be able to help you with an expungement of your record. An expungement results in removing certain charges from your criminal record. Once your record is expunged, state and federal authorities can no longer access the information.

In general, you have to wait five years from your last conviction or guilty plea before you can ask for a misdemeanor or felony to be expunged. For a dismissal, you only have to wait 60 days.

Prior to 2016, felonies were not expendable in Kentucky. The law changed in 2016 which allows for expungement for one felony case conviction for most charges. In general, you cannot expunge a felony related to a crime against children or a senior, or a drug trafficking offense. The list of things that are expungable is much longer than a list of things that are not. If you would like to have us look over your record and let us know if your charges are expendable please contact us.

For many people, this change of the law will allow them to vote, volunteer at their children’s school, and get a better job, amongst other things. If you have any charges on your record and want to see about expunging them please call an attorney, either at the Fauver Law Office or another office.
